"Each of the honorees has made significant contributions to the quality of life in their community," said Price. "Their accomplishments cover a wide range of areas, including education, health, religion, public safety, real estate, public service, community pride, leadership and volunteer achievements."

The event was hosted by Michaela Pereira of KTLA Channel 5 Morning News who introduced each SHero and read a brief bio of their accomplishments. To commemorate the occasion, honorees were presented with a certificate from the California State Assembly, a long-stemmed rose, and posed for a photograph with Assemblymember Price. Father Lawton, President of Loyola Marymount University welcomed a room filled to capacity with honorees and guests, to the university, who enjoyed light refreshments of skewered chicken, crab cakes, cheeses and fresh fruit.  Musical entertainment, before and during the event, was provided by harpist Ellen Walls.
