Curren Price honored
fifty-one outstanding
women over the Mother's
Day weekend at the First
Annual SHero's Tribute
held at Loyola Marymount
University. The 51
SHero's were showered
with praise, gifts and
roses for their many
civic contributions
within the 51st Assembly
District which Price
represents.

"Each of the honorees
has made significant
contributions to the
quality of life in their
community," said Price.
"Their accomplishments
cover a wide range of
areas, including
education, health,
religion, public safety,
real estate, public
service, community
pride, leadership and
volunteer achievements."
The event was hosted by
Michaela Pereira of KTLA
Channel 5 Morning News
who introduced each
SHero and read a brief
bio of their
accomplishments. To
commemorate the
occasion, honorees were
presented with a
certificate from the
California State
Assembly, a long-stemmed
rose, and posed for a
photograph with
Assemblymember Price.
Father Lawton, President
of Loyola Marymount
University welcomed a
room filled to capacity
with honorees and
guests, to the
university, who enjoyed
light refreshments of
skewered chicken, crab
cakes, cheeses and fresh
fruit. Musical
entertainment, before
and during the event,
was provided by harpist
Ellen Walls.
Price
defines a Shero as ". .
. a woman who inspires
others through her own
actions. She has made a
difference by giving a
significant amount of
her time through
community service,
community pride and/or
community leadership for
noteworthy
improvements."
