Assemblymember Curren Price is grieved to hear that the eldest daughter of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., Yolanda King, passed away last week.

"Yolanda King will always be remembered as a strong advocate for positive social change, peace and non-violence. She was known and loved for her inspirational contributions to society, for raising awareness of the important issues that affect us on a daily basis, and for being a living memory of the values and hopes of her parents. Ms Yolanda King's untimely passing at such a relatively young age is a loss to us all," said Assemblymember Price.

Ensuring Voter Rights:  At a recent tour of the Los Angeles County Registrars office, Assemblymember Curren Price as Chair of the Elections and Redistricting Committee, observed the activities at several polling locations for both the 39th Assembly District and the Los Angeles Unified School Board elections.  After his meeting with L.A. County Registrar Connie McCormick, Price also spoke with poll watchers and staff with an eye toward identifying concerns and determining whether a need exists for legislation to curtail voter disenfranchisement.

Continuing the Quest for Education:
Chicago Bears' #55 Lance Briggs, joined Assemblymember Curren Price and Sheila Starks of the Stephanie Starks HOPE Foundation's Project Read at Florin Elementary School to promote reading and celebrate the over 6000 books donated by the Foundation to the Elk Grove
United School District.
